The breeding system

The general principles of the Loft Santos breeding system: To maintain a breed of pigeons, there is only one system: inbreeding, but never to close. You can never reproduce recklessly - inbreeding can also correct bad qualities! Inbreeding goes hand in hand with very severe selection. You need a fairly strong base to avoid inbreeding too closely. For racing purposes, the best results are obtained by mating two unrelated pigeons within the breed. Close inbreeding is only appropriate for fixing bloodlines and therefore for breeding purposes. When introducing new bloodlines, one can never be too picky - only the best is good enough. You get the best results when introducing strongly inbred pigeons. If the combination matches well, the results are stable and almost predictable. Parenting is an art, it takes a lot of "knowledge" but also a good deal of "luck"..
